Gospel of John
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God (John 1 v 1-2).
Jesus came – as the Son of God – to share the Father’s heart with us and His love for mankind. This is the message that the Gospel of John is trying to convey. Despite the dire condition of our heart, God had put a plan into motion to rescue us from our own, inevitable demise.
For God so love the world
The Creator of the universe, Who could have chosen any other form of salvation, deemed necessary, by His mighty hand, opted to sacrifice part of Himself and became flesh in the form of His Son, Jesus. There is no other religious worldview offering this kind of hope or the god thereof being willing to become part of His created, in order to suffer alongside them and ultimately give Himself up as a sacrifice so that they could have eternal life.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3 v 16) [NLT]
Bread of life
Jesus makes a powerful, yet controversial statement, when He says that, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14 v 6) [NKJV]
Jesus not only speaks with authority, but demonstrates the authority given to Him by the Father. He is not merely a good and moral teacher, but the only Son of the living God. Through John’s eyewitness account, we read of great miracles that reveal Jesus’ divine nature, such as turning water into wine, feeding the five thousand, walking on water and raising Lazarus from the dead, to name a few.
The only Son and the risen Christ
Whether Jesus was loved or persecuted, the impact that He had on those around Him, would change their lives forever. There were some that doubted His teachings and many doubted His resurrection – even the ones closest to Him.
If you are in doubt about Jesus’ nature and divine identity that sets Him apart from all the other proclaimed prophets and teachers, read the Gospel of John and ask God to reveal this truth to you. He says that if you seek Him, you will find Him.
Based on this personal expose, you can come to God, through His mediator and Son, Jesus Christ and start a new life right here, right now.
