My scripture for today is from 1 Pet 4 v 1 – 11:

…. be alert and of sober mind brothers…  do not give in to the old nature of fleshly human desires.  Love each other, with a selfless, sacrificial love, just like Christ loved us.  This kind of love covers over a multitude of sins.  Whenever you speak, wheneve you serve, do this so that God may be praised.  Amen

Dear brothers in Christ

My prayer for you this morning is Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians:

Eph 3 v 14 – 20

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge —that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen

Please read chapters 1 to 3 in full and realize just how blessed we are, as gentiles, receiving the Gospel that was initially rejected by God’s people, even though He made a covenant with them.  A promise that He will keep and if we fully trust in and obey God and place our hope in Jesus and His future return we also become heirs of that promise.  How abundantly has He showered us with His grace through the death of His Son so that we may become partakers of the divine nature.  May we wake up each day, realizing the price that was paid through the cross.

Today’s scripture is from Eph, chapter 6

Verses 10 – 13

Finally, be strong in the Lord [empowered through your union with Him] and in his mighty power [that power and strength only He can provide]. Put on the full armor of God [helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, belt of truth, shoes of peace proclaiming the good news and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word] so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents],but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers (principalities) of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly (supernatural) realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand [firmly in your place].

Satan’s modus operandi is to keep us busy with earthly, fleshly things and desires.  Do not get caught up in the rat race brothers.  There is a spiritual battle going on in the heavenly and the only way we can fight this war is in a spiritual manner with the weapons He has given us – the FULL armour of God.  The sins in our lives form chinks in the armour and through that we allow satan to defile us.  Be ALERT, be SOBER, be WATCHFUL and guard the gates of your soul.  My prayer is that the Lord will strengthen our faith as we prepare for this spiritual war, but first we need to submit to Him fully.  Have a blessed weekend and join me on Monday for a week on surrender.  Yours in Christ

Scripture of the day:

Rev 22 v 1 – 5

Let us start today and live a life of worship, not just in song, but also in our actions.  For us to be able to see God’s face and reign with Him, in the future, for eternity, we have to start today and turn away from the things that prohibit us from seeking Him.  My only goal is to pursue Him and seek His will.  The rest will be provided for according to His riches for our daily needs.  Are you with me on this journey brothers?  Join me on Monday for “a week on surrender” and how to completely submit to our Lord Jesus.  Blessings

My scripture for today is from Rev 21 v 1 – 8

Let us come to the Lord to quench our thirst with living waters instead of seeking solace in this world.  My prayer for today is that you will long after intimacy with the Lord and that He may be your heart’s desire – your first love.  We can only be victorious and overcome the things of this world if He is the center of our world. May God’s grace, His unmerited favour, be upon you today.

My scripture for today is from Rev 20 v 1 – 6

What a wonderful prospect we have, should we remain faithful to the Lord and His Word, knowing that one day we will reign with Him.

Dear brothers, let us run this race and not give up, in order to win the prize that awaits us (1 Cor 9 v 24), which is an eternity with our creator.  What can be more important in this life?  Is there anything that can surpass eternal life with Jesus?  Let us therefore press on and fix our eyes on Him.  He is coming soon!

Something appropriate to reflect on when we struggle….  we can overcome the struggles and temptations of this world through the power of the cross and resurrection of our Saviour.  May we never forget the price He paid for our freedom.

This week of prayer has been an amazing revelation.  What I take from it is that I have underestimated the power of prayer knowing that for God all things are possible.  Do not make hasty decisions based on your emotions.  Consider everything prayerfully and ask the Lord to guide you.  Let His Word light up your path and His spirit lead you into all truth.  May we excel in our relationships with the Lord. Nothing else should be more important.  Have a blessed Monday.

Dear brothers in Christ.  My scripture for today, the last of the churches in Revelation, the church of Laodicea, Rev 3 v 14 – 22.  The danger, so it seems, is that we can become luke warm so easily through getting entangled with all that this world has to offer, that we begin to think we have acquired all there is to have in this life. 

Let us acknowledge our wretched state before the Lord and realize that we are miserable, poor, blind and naked without Him. The Lord still longed to fellowship with those who were willing to repent and turn back to Him.  Isn’t it amazing to know that no one is completely lost, should they answer to the Lord’s call (vers 19 & 20).  Let’s not quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5 v 19 – 22), but instead listen wholeheartedly to what the Spirit says (Rev 3 v 22).  My prayer is that we will fix our eyes on Jesus and live like “a soul on fire”.  Amen

I would like to leave you with my scripture for the day and wish you a blessed weekend.  May we not be found wanting like the church in Ephesus who the Lord commended for their perseverence but have left their first love.  Rev 2 v 1 – 7.  May we continue to seek our First Love and be sensitive to what the Spirit tells us.  The reward is everlasting love should we be able to overcome the things of this world.  What a prospect to look forward to.  Blessing in Jesus.
