Day 1
Luke 10 v 17 – 24 and Philippians 1 v 3 – 11

Vers 20 – 21
It should bring great joy, to have eternal security in Christ, but Jesus said that the Kingdom belongs to those who become like children in their belief. This has nothing to do with being childish, naive or gullible, but everything to do with the trust a child has in their parents. Children also have the ability to laugh and rejoice in the smallest of little things, especially when a parent plays with them and tickles them. May we too, find joy in the Lord’s little blessings, “always offering prayer with joy”, knowing we will not be disappointed if we put our hope in Jesus.

Day 2
Psalms 30 v 1 – 12 and Psalms 126 v 1 – 6

David is known as a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22) and besides his shortcomings, sets an almost perfect example of how to really “praise and worship” and give thanks to the Lord.

He rejoices in God’s favor and petitions to the Lord that He should keep him (David) and not allow for him to perish. This the Lord will indeed do, as He has done with those in captivity, should we seek His will.

Let us proclaim with joyful shouting the great things our God has done for us. Let’s be glad for the Lord has restored our soul. Let’s drink from the fountain of life, for “whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4 v 14).

Let’s pray and ask the Lord to replenish our spirit so that we will long after fellowship with Him. Amen

Day 3
Habakkuk 3 v 11 – 19 and 1 Peter 4 v 12 – 19

A Prayer by Habakkuk
Habakkuk praises the Lord and describes His Magnificent Splendour and Almighty power in the preceding verses (1 – 10), which makes one believe God is capable of anything, which He is, but even “though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail and the fields produce no food, though flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will EXULT in the Lord, I will REJOICE in the God of my salvation.”

We will experience trials and tribulation in this life, it helps us mature, while we learn to depend on God for our daily needs. We should continue to trust in Him during these times and rejoice in the fact that He is our rock, our salvation, our hope and our strength. Just as it is written in 1 Peter, chapter 4, when we are in Christ, we will share in His suffering and get a taste of how He experienced hardship and was mocked and rejected by the people. Through this we should “rejoice in exultation”, knowing that we are blessed and God’s favour rests on us.

Have a spirit filled day.

Day 4
1 Chronicles 29 v 10 – 20 and Nehemiah 8 v 9 -18

“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
The people rejoiced in bringing their offerings, they rejoiced when the book of the law was read. They were not perfect, yet their hearts were set on the Lord. This is the point. If we set our hearts on Him and make Him our focus, He will give us the strength to keep His commandments and statutes and we will do so joyously.

Therefore rejoice in the fact that everything you have been granted is the Lord’s and that in giving back we actually bless Him and acknowledge Him as our provider. Never forget that we are merely passing through, sojourners… tenants… this is not our home and we should not seek to establish kingdoms and build castles.

Look forward to that day when Jesus returns and rejoice in knowing that you will spend an eternity with Him should you seek Him and do the will of the Father, just as He did.

Day 5
Esther 8 v 11 – 17 and Psalms 16 v 1 – 11

We should rejoice in the fact that God uses people strategically to do His will in order to have His way, how He sees fit. Whether they believe in Him or not. He can use us just like He did with the King, Mordecai and Esther, who pleaded with the King for the sake of the Jews.

From one king to the next, David once again acknowledges His dependence on the Lord, stating that in “His presence is fullness and joy.” (Ps 16 v 11) Continue to set your eyes and heart on the Lord, knowing that He completes us.

There is nothing good for us in this life beside Him. Without His spirit, our bodies are merely empty vessels waiting to undergo decay. Seek the Lord today while He can still be found.

Blessings in Jesus.

Day 6
John 3 v 22 – 30 and John 16 v 16 – 24

We will experience true, unimaginable joy, with Jesus’ return should we count ourselves among those who have endured. Let us continue to run this race as the bride seeking the bridegroom’s voice while proclaiming Isaiah’s words as John did “I am the voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” (Is 40 v 3; John 1 v 23)

My prayer for today is that the Lord will be your hope and your deliverer. This I ask in the Name of our Heavenly Father. Do not pray for temporary, earthly things that have no value. Ask the Lord for wisdom, patience, compassion, understanding and above all forgiveness of your sins so that “your joy may be made full.” Amen

Day 7
Psalms 51 v 1 – 19

Once we understand our selfish actions and transgressions are sins committed against the Lord, we realize He is righteous in His judgment.

I pray the Lord will open;

  • our eyes, so that we will see ourselves for who we really are
  • our ears, in order to hear His still small voice and
  • our mind to the understanding of His Word.

May He cleanse our hearts and restore our spirit, that we may stand blameless before Him, that we may experience the joy of His salvation.

Let us worship joyfully with a broken and contrite heart and kneel before His throne with a broken spirit, knowing He will renew our soul.

Amen
